World Refugee Day is a day to honour the experiences of refugees and celebrate the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.
In Australia, today marks the start of Refugee Week. This week is an opportunity for us all to experience and celebrate the rich diversity and talents within Australia’s refugee communities.
At LCMS, we are celebrating our community members from refugee backgrounds through the universal language of food. Join our upcoming live cooking demonstrations with local Karen and South Sudanese families on our Facebook page!
Monday 21 June at 5pm: Deep Fried Long Melon & tamarind sauce with the Sein Family
Wednesday 23 June at 5pm: Couscous with the Deng family
We are also hosting a community lunch with Neighbourhood Collective Australia and MAV on Friday, 25 June! Find out more here: https://www.collective.org.au/events/refugee-week-lunch/
