Commonly known as the Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival, today is a popular East Asian celebration of abundance and community that has been celebrated for over 3000 years.
Although we can’t celebrate in the way we normally would, by staying safe we’re helping to protect the people we love and our community. A great way to celebrate with your household is making your own mooncakes, making tea and admiring the moon from your backyard!
Thank you, City of Greater Bendigo Intercultural Ambassador Tan See Tuang and community member Angela Zheng for joining Kelly to make mooncakes and tell us the story of the mooncake. Big thanks to Multicultural Youth Network member Maha for the behind-the-scenes work.
All ingredients in the video and ready-made mooncakes can be bought at Bendigo’s Asian groceries. Enjoy!
